Catching a collectivo

I keep hearing about bus service from the port of Calico to PDC called a collectivo. Does anyone have experience with this? Do you catch it by the main road and if so, how far away is that from the port? How often do they come by? Thanks for any help.

Never been to Calica, but I have ridden the collectivos. They are vans that drive with their lights on, if you stand by the side of the 307 highway, they will slow down and maybe honk, have your had up and they will stop for you.
