we are doing a land /sea tour with princess leaving june 1st-denali-copper river- skagway- juneau and kechikan- went to website- overwhelmed by choices and some of the prices- looking for suggestions from those who have been there-any one do the pilot choice helicopte ride??? have been reading info on the boards about not booking with the ship and going with private offers-suggestions / comments

99% of the time we do ship excursions. The ones we have taken are

Skagway: The train ride - great, Experience the Yukon, one of the great highlights. This year we are doing the Orca Enterprises whale watching private tour out of Juneau. This is a extremely popular excursion so if you choose to do this one make reservtions early. We made ours last month and we are in Juneau June 4. Maybe other people will have suggestions for you.

P.S. By the way the ones in Skagway were two different excursions in two different years. The train ride was 1 year and Experience the Yukon on another year.

You need to narrow your interests from the list. :) I never take ship excurisons and alway book independent. Yes the pilot's choice glacier helicopter landing is excellent, BUT if fund for this prevent you from another tour, I suggest you book the single glacier landing and have a VARIED Alaska tour experience. Also look at booking direct with Coastal, may be some savings?
