cruzndiz Posted November 4, 2010 #1 Share Posted November 4, 2010 This just struck me as kind of strange (given the sheer volume of advertising literature I receive on a weekly basis from other cruise lines like Regent, Seabourn, Crystal) but since my February cruise on the Gem I haven't heard one single word, or received one piece of mail from NCL. Is this normal????

HazyDavy Posted November 4, 2010 #3 Share Posted November 4, 2010 I would think that is a good thing. I'm not a fan of the daily advertisements in the mailbox, both snail-mail and e-mail.
time2cruise1 Posted November 4, 2010 #4 Share Posted November 4, 2010 I have gotten a few pieces but I think they blew the 2010 budget on the Epic launch.
iceman2a Posted November 4, 2010 #5 Share Posted November 4, 2010 I get an email at least once a week!
Cruise_More_Often Posted November 4, 2010 #6 Share Posted November 4, 2010 Duh! It's how they keep the prices so low. I receive gorgeous color brochures from HAL and Princess every week, and they just go into the garbage. When I'm ready to look at cruises, I head to the Internet where I can get info about all the cruiselines.
SeaShark Posted November 4, 2010 #7 Share Posted November 4, 2010 Or it could just be that the level of demand for the product is above the level at which additional advertising is needed...
psbtrvlr Posted November 4, 2010 #8 Share Posted November 4, 2010 I get an email at least once a week! I don't even get email. Have signed up many times for the specials too, but still nothing.
Dajbman22 Posted November 4, 2010 #9 Share Posted November 4, 2010 I also think NCL is trying various marketing angles. They are really pushing their Facebook page (very cheap advertising for them, with free viral spillover). Also, during the recent sale in October, NCL was running ads almost once an hour on the radio in Boston. Mainly because of my constant time on these boards, I have also been getting NCL banners showing up everywhere I go online, so they definitely invested in a cookie-based web advertising plan. So even though i haven't received a mailing lately, I have been seeing/hearing a lot from NCL.
cruzndiz Posted November 5, 2010 Author #10 Share Posted November 5, 2010 Yeah, I definitely get e-mails...wasn't thinking about them..... I'm just surprised I guess with the Epic launch that I haven't gotten any "hard" materials to look over. I'm computer savvy, but I still like the look & feel of the glossy paper brochures/booklets
Rare ohioNCLcruiser Posted November 5, 2010 #11 Share Posted November 5, 2010 I've received about 2 items in the mail over the past 5 weeks. One was a double sided paper type thing and the second thing was a little catalog style thing showing all their destinations.
Jerseyboy1 Posted November 5, 2010 #12 Share Posted November 5, 2010 I've received about five or six mailings from them this year. Still haven't seen an NCL television commercial this whole year though.
cruisin07family Posted November 5, 2010 #13 Share Posted November 5, 2010 I requested a brochure at their website and hopefully will be getting that any day. I'm with a pp who said they like the glossy paper feel, lol. I also used to LOVE the commercials with everyone dressed alike, looking robotic on a ship doing the same thing at the same time with everyone else. Great ad for freestyle!! I check prices and different itineraries a lot and it has prompted several calls in the last couple of weeks from "my" PCC. Funny since I've not booked directly with NCL ever that I somehow have a PCC.
camz Posted November 5, 2010 #14 Share Posted November 5, 2010 Only a few days back from our cruise and I received a Customer Satisfaction email that they requested I fill out. I have gotten these after all my cruises with NCL. Just a couple weeks ago, I received the Lattitudes Package in the mail since I just moved up to the Silver Category. Other than that, I have never received random brochures or junk mail. I get these mailings from various other cruise lines, however, not NCL. :)
