Solstice vs Oasis

Recommended Posts

We just got off Oasis last week and wow what a ship. We are doing Solstice in April, will we be disappointed? Has anyone done Solstice and did you enjoy it? It looks beautiful, just hoping we are not bored. I hear the shows are not that good and not much going on at night. Info please!

I have sailed the Solstice twice, and I LOVE it! Even after having just cruised Oasis, I would book a Solstice Class ship again in a heartbeat.

The shows are pretty good. Nothing compares to Oasis' shows, but the shows on Solstice were still up there. They do 3 production shows, one of which is a Cirque du Soleil style show that uses the entire theater.

Activites are definitely less, but with the right state of mind, that is a good thing. I found I was able to relax a lot more on Solstice. The Lawn Club was a lot of fun to play on, and we got involved in several bocce ball tournaments. The Glass Blowing show is also very interesting.

Here is my photo album from my last Solstice cruise. Feel free to take a gander:

The Solstice is fabulous ship, you will love the style on board, The Ice Bar is a favourite, and the food on board is really great, try Murano for a special night.

ooo thanks the pics looks great....looks like our style of ship for sure!! I am excited....5 months to go!!:D

I sailed the Solstice this past May and it was a great ship however I will say it wasn't the most exciting ship I've ever been on. My wife and I got a little board at nights but it was a relaxing cruise I wouldn't hesitate to sail the Solstice again. Just know you're not going to have the bells and whistles of the Oasis.

The Solstice is elegant and relaxing but not boring. I haven't been on Oasis but I would say that RCCL spends more time and effort on entertaining the passengers than Celebrity does. If you are expecting round the clock activities and over the top production shows you may be disappointed. I love the Sosltice product though.

I too was on the Solstice last May and while a beautiful ship, I found it boring after dinner. The productions shows were not very good. Nothing compared to what Royal does. If you're looking for a relaxing cruise, then I would definately recommend it. If you're looking for activities, then I'd say it's not for you. The Martini Bar is the best though!

Been on the Solstice and many other X ships. X is not what it use to be nor is any cruise line. However, X is over rated in the way of food and entertainment. X cost more to cruise with in initial price, daily gratuities, drinks, items sold in shops, etc. I personally don't believe that you get that much more for your money.

RCI has the most elegant ships in regards to MDR, Showroom, promenade deck, etc.

Food is so subjective that I won't comment on that.

I have been on both this year. They are both amazing ships. The Solstice happens to be the most beautiful ship interior I have ever experienced. I do believe each one will provide a very different experience.

We thought the food in the main dining room was excellent on the Solstice. We also thought the Ocean view cafe was far superior to the Windjammer.

We thought the entertainment was pretty good on the Solstice.....we were blown away by the entertainment on the Oasis.

We felt that the Solstice was a much more relaxing cruise than the Oasis.

I would go on either ship again in a heartbeat!!!

We did Oasis October 2nd, and Solstice November 2008 its second week of revenue cruises.

Solstice has no Promenade, No Flowrider, No ip Line, No Centra; Park, No Boardwalk, No Ice Show, No Water Show, etc. So if you expect all this and want to do it again, yo will need to rebook the Oasis or Allure.

However, if you enjoyed your previous cruises on ships that were not Royal Caribbean Voyager Class or above (Radiance Class) you will enjoy the Solstice Class. The Solstice Class is a beautiful and elegant ship. The Specialty Restaurants are wonderful, do not miss the Tusacan Grille and make sure you sit at the windows at the back of the ship. The Solarium is beautiful and very peaceful, we like it better than the Oasis. Main dining room will provide more choices than you find on Royal and higher food quality. The shows will be more limted than you had on Oasis, but the production shows are of high quality and better than average. Cabins will be similar to what you had on Oasis, the wave cabins with alternating bed at balcony vs closet began on the Solstice Class. The decor is beautiful and very tasteful. The Corning Museum glass making at Sea is a neat experience. The lawn club is quite, but not anything like you experienced with Cental Park.

As you know from multiple cruises, they are all good as long as you do your homework and have your expectations in line on what they can deliver. Solstice class cannot deliver the full diversity you had on Oasis, but it can deliver a beautiful and very nice week. If you have been on the Milleniym Class ships and enjoyed them, you will enjoy Solstice even more. Here are some photo's from Ship Parade, good luck and have fun.

I cruised Oasis and got on to Solstice the next day. It was a shock to say the least. I would have enjoyed it more had the cruises been further apart and my brain had a chance to forget how stunning Oasis was. Solstice is a beautiful ship but there was no comparison. :D

I sailed on both, the Solstice in Feb 2009 and the Oasis October 2010. Although the Solstice is a beautiful ship on the interior, stunning actually, I found myself very bored.

I went to all the shows, and all were below average in my opinion. I walked out of the Cirque du Soleil like show half way through because I couldn't take it anymore.

Celebrity loves acapella groups and when I was on it they had Ocean's Five. I ran from where ever they were singing, a little goes a long way with them. But, that's just my taste.

The casino was literally empty after any of the shows, it's smoke free which is great.

If you're looking for anything going on after 11:00 pm, you won't find it on the Solstice. It's pretty quiet onboard. Bring lots of books.

Solstice is an amazing ship. The most beautiful ship I have ever been on, and feels uncrowded always. With the small execption of the comedy club. But that may have been because the comedian was so darn funny and e veryone found out his last shows were much more crowded than the first. it is kinda slow after dinner but I would attribute that to the celebrity passanger moto, "newly wed or almost dead". We still had a relaxing amazing trip. Two suggestions I would make would be to get an aqua class balcony and eat in blu. Best food I have ever had on any cruise. And don't write off the lawn club bar for hanging out at night. The rest of the ship is dead except this area and the previously mentioned martini ice bar.

Have fun you will enjoy it so long as you have the mindset that it is not the oasis, or rccl at all. It is a different product.

I loved our cruise on the Solstice. The ship is beautiful and the food is great. It was really relaxing. But bring two books - you may need more than one :).

Ha Ha I actually read 2 books when we went on Solstice. It was a great ship and a great cruise but definitely more relaxing due to lack of activities that we were interested or not interested in.:p I agree with most. Food was great, entertainment was ok, night life (including casino) was tame. No where near the energy of an RCCL cruise. Would go again if I'm in the mood to just chill. Ship and Staff were great!
