Goldens4 Posted November 5, 2010 #1 Share Posted November 5, 2010 Per an article in Travel and Leisure, The Spa on the Spirit will be offering Botox, Perlane, and Restylane injections. The article did not say when this is going to be implemented or whether it is already being done. Just an FYI!:)
Northerncheapo Posted November 6, 2010 #2 Share Posted November 6, 2010 I cannot imagine why anyone would ever do these procedures on vacation? Besides which, you'll have a slight bruise at the point of needle entry and you don't have the optimum results of said treatments for up to two weeks after the shots. I don't get it. But that's me. Goldens4 Posted November 6, 2010 Author #3 Share Posted November 6, 2010 I agree completely plus I would want to know the experience level of the injector.

wripro Posted November 6, 2010 #5 Share Posted November 6, 2010 You could have it done on the last day of the cruise so the healing would take place at home. Of course, you might not look like your passport picture!
dusababy Posted November 6, 2010 #6 Share Posted November 6, 2010 I agree completely plus I would want to know the experience level of the injector. Does the ship's doctor administer these synthetic injectables? NO WAY !!!
Goldens4 Posted November 7, 2010 Author #7 Share Posted November 7, 2010 Bill, you are a character. wripro, if you have any problems or need a fix, you have no recourse. dusababy, I am with you. I would like to know what they charge since their regular Spa treatments are double what the price is in the Atlanta area.
Northerncheapo Posted November 7, 2010 #8 Share Posted November 7, 2010 of course, I wasn't speaking from personal experience about the bruising or how long before the effects actually take place ;)

NJBelle Posted November 9, 2010 #11 Share Posted November 9, 2010 Bill, you better watch out. Your DW may be saving up to pay for your transformation to a Brad Pitt look-alike.....:)
beckaboo Posted November 15, 2010 #12 Share Posted November 15, 2010 Just finished the 11/6 sailing and yes, there's a doctor who does this on the Spirit. Not the ship's doctor - I spoke to him while in the spa (he hangs around the desk) and was curious about this as well. He does Botox and the next gen Dysport, along with Restylane & Perlane. Pricing seemed comparable to what I've heard in California, and it's good that it's a doctor & not a technician like I've seen at a few spas (yikes!) cechase Posted November 16, 2010 #15 Share Posted November 16, 2010 Thanks for the info. beckaboo. Nice to hear it is a doctor. Just wondering what kind of Dr.;) billcrooz, you are a character!:D Marcie, the doctor on Spirit took 8 tries before successfully giving me an IV! And then charged $7,200.00 for 11 hours in the infirmary before I was taken off the ship in an ambulance in the early hours upon docking in Tenerife. beckaboo Posted November 16, 2010 #16 Share Posted November 16, 2010 Marcie, if I remember correctly, the spa doctor is an MD who graduated from a university in Monterrey, MX... he's in addition to the ship's doctor.
Goldens4 Posted November 16, 2010 Author #17 Share Posted November 16, 2010 Oh, Charlie! That must have hurt! My veins are hard to find, but dang, I've never been poked 8 times. Thanks, beckaboo for the info. I've heard through the grapevine in my neck of the woods, that folks are going to Mexico and the Dominican Republic for Plastic Surgery for cost savings. I saw a "product" of a clinic in Mexico City and she looks great. Of course, none of us on these boards need it.;)
