Hotels with easy access to the port in Barcelona

We are doing a split stay in Barcelona, 1.5 days prior, 1 day post. We have been there before but missed a couple of things and want to revisit for a bit.

 

We are looking at the W on the coast, that seems like the closest to the port. Anyone stay there? Is there a shuttle to the port?

 

Are there any other hotels that are pretty close to the port that are nice hotels that you recall? When we went before we stayed up at the other end of Ramblas.

Dear friends:

 

Although you can appear to "touch" the cruise ships from the W hotel, its location on a land barge at the end of Barceloneta beach does not really make it as close to the port as it appears. The taxi has to wind out of that area and go through the main port entrance, and then across the bridge if you are going to the far "muelle adosado" port (where the large ships dock).

 

The Eurostars Grand Marina is much closer to the port and is actually right inside the smaller port (i.e. if you are taking a small ship that happens to dock right next to the hotel, you can literally have the bellboy wheel your luggage cart to the ship).

 

That being said, the port's location right within the city of Barcelona, and Barcelona not being too large a city, makes it such that one can stay at any main city hotel and reach the port by taxi in a very short time, and quite economically.
