Recent kids club experience on the Dawn?

Have a couple of questions for you....

1. Do you remember what times the kids club is closed? We would like to participate in our roll call's slot pull at the casino, but I know the kids club shuts down at times....

2. Are there family activities planned? On Carnival they had something like a water-balloon launch war and we had lots of fun, I am hoping there are some family activities too!

3. How did your kids like it? My kids are 7 & 9. I did a search on it and found some very mixed reviews. I know it varies from ship to ship. On Carnival one ship I couldn't get them out of it and the other I could hardly get them to go or wanted them to go!

4. I read they have to wear closed toe shoes (no flip flops or sandals)... I was pretty much planning to have them in flip flops for the entire crusie! Not much running around on a ship!

5. Any other tips to make the most out of it? We mostly use the kids club for the late night babysitting where they can watch movies and play wii and we can go to the parties, the adult comedy, etc. We love sharing most of the cruise with the kids including the dinners and family style shows & parties.

I can answer a few of your questions.

It opened at 8pm on embarkation day. Sea days it was open I think 9am until 10pm then after 10pm-1am is $6/hr. Port days you could pay $6/hr from docking until?? then free after?? 6 or 8pm (can't remember)

My son wore crocs or flip flops every day and no one ever said anything to me on Jewel or Dawn.

He loved it both times and I could barely pull him away. I can speak for the 3-5 year olds: at night they took them to a few shows in the theater and had great seats. They had decorate t-shirts, decorate cupcakes, face painting, movies, treasure hunt around the ship, pj party, family time was pizza making, some game around the pool ( I can't remember)and a few other activities we didn't do because of timing.

It best to go sign up the first day and you can meet the counselors and get the weeks' schedule at that time.

I don't think so but I always took my son out before lunch to swim then eat and before dinner to swim, shower and eat so it may have been closed but I can't say for sure.

They do not feed them except for one "kid's dinner" night. I don't think I kept either schedule but try doing a search on here I think I saw a picture posted.

Thanks for the reply Russianmom. I am not worried whether they will feed the kids - especially since I have a kid with peanut allergies..... I like the boys to have dinner with us unless we get to dine with the ships officers then we will feed them and have them go to kids club.

I just know with Carnival it seems the kids club was closed at the times when we most wanted to do something without the kids. We also take them off with us on all ports - I want them to see the world too! ;) I looked at a Pearl schedule and did not see any specific times they were closed - maybe the kids club is just better than Carnival in that aspect (I hope!) ????
