Booked at Chankanaab...XCaret too much?

Hi there! I booked Royal Swim with dolphins at Chankanaab Park. And now I am trying to figure out what we could do in Calica with an 8-year old. Is XCaret very different from Chankanaab and is it worth the money doing both parks on the same cruise? What else is there to do in Calica/PDC besides XCaret or Xel-Ha that kids would enjoy?
