Carnival Freedom Excursions

Hi All,

First time cruiser, will embark on Carnival Freedom to W.Caribbean, cruise port will be Cozumel, Puerto Limon(Costa Rica) and Colon (Panama). Would like to know what kind of excursions Carnival will provide? is it necessary to do the homework ourselves ahead? Many people suggest go for a self-guided tour, is this also applied to first-time cruiser. Though we have done many self-planed(guided) travels so far, first time on cruise, also first time to Caribbean, any suggestions are really appreicated.

Generally first timers probably should stick to ship tours the first time around. If for any reason the tour is late getting back to the ship you run the risk of the ship leaving without you.

As a result we will pick tours that are scheduled to get back 1 -1/2 to 2 hour before ships departure.

More expeienced cruisers will typically do private tours as they are typically better, cheaper and not as crowded as ship tours.

If you want to try one on your cruise would recommend going to port of call pages for more info. We have taken tours with myfriendmario.com in Colon on two occasions and he does an excellent job.

We were first timers in Aug,2010 on the same ship with the same ports, We joined a roll call and did our own excursions with several members of the roll call, One an other member lined up, one I lined up and in Coz. we did our own thing, we went to the national park and swam with the wild life. We also used myfriendmario in colon and he was awesome, and we were never worried about missing the ship.

Are you registered to use the Carnival web site?

if so- up on the top right hand corner is MY PROFILE. in there click on ADD A BOOKING #. Which will list your cruise- You can then plan your activities on that page.

It will list all the ship sponsor excursions- times and prices.
