We are booked on a walking tour of Cartegena through Princess lines. My husband cannot walk very well and we use a w/c for him in museums, etc. I want to know if I would be able to take him in a w/c on this walking tour? Are the streets okay for walking? Cobblestoned? He really wants to go into town and see the old town, but he knows he cannot keep up with the walkers. I can push him around in a chair without any trouble. Also, are there any grocery stores around the port ?

We were in Cartegena in April and visited the old town, however, we were not using a wheelchair, so I can't speak specifically to that. Most, if not all, of the streets were made of paving stones or brick (not cobblestones) so it was not a perfectly smooth surface but I don't think it would be too difficult for a wheelchair. The sidewalks don't have ramps at the corners like those in States have. But the sidewalks were often crowded with people or other obstructions, so you will probably want to walk in the street anyway.

You can check out some photos of Cartegena Old Town on Google Images to get an idea of what the streets look like. I think you'll find them manageable with a wheelchair, especially since you say you have no trouble pushing your husband.

This is a video clip we took on a walking tour in Cartegana's Old City. I think that you should be able to manage with a w/c in the street.
