Gabrielle R. Posted November 14, 2010 #1 Share Posted November 14, 2010 How do you get to the Mt. Gay Rum Factory? I saw a tour for RCI that goes to Mt Gay & a local brewery.... Wondering If I could do that on my own... How hard to do it... Ideas? THANKS!

They are both relatively easy to access from the port...in my opinion they are both quite doable on the same day....dependent on how long you have in port. We have quite a bit of time in port 8-5 So enough time to do this.;) My question is HOW do we book/ find a way to do the tours? Get to the rum 'factory' and brewery. Thanks! barbados Posted November 15, 2010 #4 Share Posted November 15, 2010 The best way is to hire a taxi driver to shuttle you to these spots. They know who, when, where and how much. That's their job. Hit the spots you want to see and let him give you a brief tour. You'll probably see twice as much for 1/2 the price of a ships' tour(s). Enjoy. :)
98Charlie Posted November 15, 2010 #5 Share Posted November 15, 2010 I agree with poster above. Hire a taxi at the pier to take you to both places. We took a taxi to Mt. Gay a few years ago. Waited a few minutes at Mt. Gay to join a tour of other folks who had come individually by taxi. We did not ask our taxi driver to wait for us as we were advised by personnel at Mt. Gay that they would call a taxi for us when our tour was finished. Worked out fine and was much cheaper and more enjoyable than booking a tour group to shuttle us to Mt. Gay. cruisingbajan Posted November 15, 2010 #6 Share Posted November 15, 2010 I agree with the two PP...getting your own taxi is probably the best way to go.
