Booking with a travel agent can someone tell me what the procedure is for sailing with P&O , do you just turn up at Southampton with your travel documents or do you have to chek in online ?

Can you pay gratuities when you book instead of having to pay it in cash onboard ?

Are there any eating places that are open 24 hours ?

What eating places do you have to pay a cover charge for ?

Is there a cinema onboard , or anywhere showing movies ?

If you do Freedom dining can you request the same table each night ?

Would be most grateful for any answers to the above questions , many thanks .

They have e-tickets which you need to print and present at check in.

Gratuities are paid on board - no advance payment possible. Freedom dining has an automatic tip of £1.60 per passenger per day added to your account (this can be cancelled if you wish to tip individuals, or if you believe service isn't up to scratch).

Waterside buffet is open for 23 of 24 hours, unless you have children who want Noddy tea then you get 24 hours!

White Room, East, Ramblas and some dishes in the Beachcomber restaurant in the evening attract an extra charge

Movies are shown in the Tamarind Club, but it is a thoroughfare so get there early to get a seat near the front.

Freedom generally means a different table every night unless you get there for service starting (6pm), or go late (after 8.30pm) when you may have a better chance of choosing a table.

Thank you so much for the info , couple of questions , if you dont have the facilities to print off an e ticket is it ok to turn up with just your travel docs ?

By them taking the gratuitites automaticly from our onboard account does this mean that we dont actualy tip anyone personaly ourselves ?

If we go for a set seating time in the dining room will we get the same table each night ?

Thank you so much for your info .

Your agent should be able to print the ticket for you - you do need it.

Auto tipping is purely for restaurant staff - you should still tip your cabin steward - P&O recommend about £1.30 per person per day or about £10 a week per person.

If you go for club dining at 6.30pm or 8.30pm you will have the same table, waiter and dining companions every night.

Thank you , we had auto paid gratuities on RCI and that included the cabin steward , we did however give him an extra $20 in the envelope , so no doubt if our cabin steward is good we will give him extra to the £10 , i am looking forward to trying a new cruise line but it feels a bit daunting not knowing what to expect this time .i feel like a cruise virgin again lol .
