xerenthar Posted November 17, 2010 #1 Share Posted November 17, 2010 If I book a shore excursion in the morning at a tender port... does the excursion meet somewhere on the ship and we tender together, or does it meet on land and we are required to be tendered in time? vwrestler171 Posted November 17, 2010 #2 Share Posted November 17, 2010 You just tender in and meet on land somewhere close to the tender dock
Rosefloater Posted November 17, 2010 #3 Share Posted November 17, 2010 If it is a morning tour, the tickets that you receive will say the time and place to meet on the ship. Everyone that is going on that excursion will then go down to the tenders and board. If the excursion is in the afternoon, then you will thke the tender on your own & then meet on the pier. This has been my experience.

If you book the excursion through Carnival, yes, that's the case. However, if you book on your own you simply get on the tender and once on land look for someone with a sign for your particular excursion. They know when you'll be in port and they'll be waiting for those individuals who have booked... :)
marshhawk Posted November 17, 2010 #6 Share Posted November 17, 2010 Well since you didn't mention what port or what excurion...when we did our Goff's Caye excursion in Belize, tendor port, those going on excursions all met in the theatre, we were loaded on tender boats depending on the excursion picked, in other words, the people who were going the farthest got called first. Our excursion was to an island, so when we got on our boat, we did not go to the land, they just took us to Goff's Caye. Since we were headed back out to the sea, it made no sense to take us to land, and then turn around and go back out. Sail safely, cruie happy! FlaGrl4Evr Posted November 17, 2010 #7 Share Posted November 17, 2010 If I book a shore excursion in the morning at a tender port... does the excursion meet somewhere on the ship and we tender together, or does it meet on land and we are required to be tendered in time? On our cruise last month on the Legend, our excursion tickets stated to meet in the Theatre. Upon entering, there was a long table set up with Carnival employees. They ask what excursion you are on, take your tickets and cross your name off of the excursion list, and then they give you a numbered sticker that corresponds with your tour. The different excursions are separated into sections throughout the theatre. They will instruct you where to sit. They will then announce the excursions one at a time, where at that point there will be a Carnival rep that will lead the way to the tender so the entire group stays together. (just a tip-- get there a little early,it took a few minutes to check-in and they do start right on time) This was the procedure for our Altun-Ha tour in Belize last month. When we reached the dock area, the tour guides from the actual tour were right there and kept everyone in a group. As we entered the tour bus they again kept count of how many were in the tour. Upon reboarding the bus at the end of the tour, the guides were again very careful on doing head counts to make sure that everyone was onboard. In Cozumel we did a Snorkel tour through Carnival that met mid-day. For this one, our tickets stated to meet at the end of the pier. The areas are very clearly marked with the different tours. We met up about 10-15 min. prior to the tour time and again, our names were checked off of a list and we waited in a group for everyone to arrive. The guides kept the tour together at all times and head counts were done for safety reasons. This was our first cruise and we too were curious how the excursions worked. I hope this little bit of info helps. Have a great cruise. :)
