We are docking in Phillipsburgh and would like to take a tour of the butterfly farm. Has anyone done with with an independent travel tour. Looking online I found one with Island Marketing. Not sure about just asking a cab driver to take us there. Looking for any info.

THANKS!!!

We just did this last week - just had a cab driver take us. For the three of us (two adults, one child) it was $30 to get in. The cab ride each way was around $20 w/out tip. From the Butterfly Farm we walked to Le Galeon beach, to the Tropical Wave. The day we went it was cloudy and spitting rain - no one was on the beach, we decided to just head back. We bought a soda/ice cream at the restaurant there, and they called us a cab back. It's a very, VERY bumpy (insert another VERY) road between the Butterfly Farm & the beach, and you pass some really nasty looking swampy ponds of water, full of brown brackish water & garbage floating in it - we were kind of wondering how good the water at the beach would be, but it looked great. We saw fish swimming, right from the beach without even going in the water, I think it would be a great place to take kids to learn to snorkel - very calm water. The restaurant/restrooms, etc. were very clean. But we just went back to the ship - of course an hour or two later the sun came out and it was a beautiful day - go figure! We liked using a taxi to & from because we could come & go on our own. The taxi driver will wait for you if you want - honestly, you won't spend more than 1/2 an hour there - and then he'll take you to another beach if you don't like the sound of Le Galeon. I was wishing we had gone to Dawn Beach because it sounds as if the snorkeling is good there.... We weren't interested in Orient at all, but that's just us - too busy, too many people! Anyway - enjoy!
