tbankard Posted February 23, 2005 #1 Share Posted February 23, 2005 My boyfriend and I, our parents and my sister and brother-in-law are sailing on the Victory 5/1. We've talked his 20yr old son to join us but I think he may be a little worried that he'll get bored. He will have turned 21 by the time we sail. Can anyone give us some tips to ensure that he does have a good time other than enjoying himself at the bar a bit too much? Any input is appreciated! Thanks, Terri
BrendaB1 Posted February 23, 2005 #2 Share Posted February 23, 2005 Lots of people that age aboard ships. Several clubs with music & dancing or hanging out with friends. Casino or Sports Bar. Pools, gym, internet cafe. One can only be as bored or have as much fun as they want to. :D He should be fine. Go have a great time.
Ellya Posted February 23, 2005 #3 Share Posted February 23, 2005 Sign up for some "active" shore excursions such as snorkeling, parasailing, zip lines, tubing...he'll have a great time and be ready to just kick back and relax on the ship. My "kids" enjoy the shows and comedians too.
K.T.B. Posted February 23, 2005 #4 Share Posted February 23, 2005 Um, let's see..... Newly 21. Many members of the barstaff wandering the deck. Lots of bars on board. Destinations will have plenty of places to indulge one's thirst. Nah. He won't drink. Much. ;)
halos Posted February 23, 2005 #5 Share Posted February 23, 2005 As long as he's not totally introverted, I'm sure he'll meet quite a few people that age and will most likely have a blast!! I wouldn't worry about it at all!! :D
cpayne Posted February 23, 2005 #6 Share Posted February 23, 2005 What WON'T there be for him to do would be a better way to ask this question!! There will be so much available he won't be able to find time for everything! Be sure he attends the singles meet and greet parties. Great way to meet others his age also traveling solo. Also, have you checked out the roll call on these boards? May find others in their early 20's also sailing with you. Enjoy!
Ehpride Posted February 23, 2005 #7 Share Posted February 23, 2005 Hmm...probably the same things that I, as new 21 year old, will be doing. Of course, I'll be paying my own S&S bill so...I won't drink...that much! I plan on hanging out by the pool, eating, swimming, eating, going to events, eating, going to shows, eating, going shopping, eating, and so on... As you can tell, I'm all over the cruise food and I'm sure a 21 year old guy would be too!
TorontoBeach Posted February 23, 2005 #8 Share Posted February 23, 2005 Also, it should be remembered that the girl to guy ratio on most ships is like 6 to 1. So he'll have lots of attention from the opposite sex.
tbankard Posted February 24, 2005 Author #9 Share Posted February 24, 2005 Thanks for all the tips!! I guess I never realized how much there really is to do. He'll be fine....just a little worried that he'll feel like he's wasted his money if he doesn't have a good time. Terri
rarodg2 Posted February 24, 2005 #10 Share Posted February 24, 2005 The question is more like "what won't he do?" Just kidding. There are tons of activities to do on board. As long as he keeps an open mind, sets out to have fun and open to meeting new people he will have a blast. Rebecca
