Transportation from port to hotel

Okay, I keep reading complaints on the Carnival board about cabs not wanting to take people to hotels when they disembark, they just want to take people to the airport. They can't seem to get a cab until all the airport people are gone.

How can I arrange transportation from the port to our hotel and avoid this frustration?

I don't remember having seen that comment made, and I hope that's not true. I know the fare is MUCH more to the airport ($28?), as opposed to anywhere in CBD or the Quarter ($7), but those cabs just make a quick run to the hotel and return to the pier for other passengers....so from what I've heard, they do just as well as the long run to the airport.

I've read it on some Conquest reviews. Well, maybe we'll just let the cabbie assume we are going to the airport and after he's loaded our luggage into the cab and we've gotten in, we'll tell him we are going to a LeRicheleau. He probably won't kick us out by then. ;)

If what I've been reading is true, I think it's unethical to be that way.
