skings Posted November 23, 2010 #1 Share Posted November 23, 2010 Hi we will be in Belize Dec 2 but going on an all day tour to Xunantunich. Does anyone know if we will be able to make this purchase somewhere on route. We have been asked to bring some bottles back. Thanks, Sandra
Pssunshinegal Posted November 24, 2010 #2 Share Posted November 24, 2010 I think you mean One Barrel. I have never been to the tourist village, but I am pretty sure that you should be able to buy it there, or someone there can direct you to a store where you can buy it that is very close by. Rare crewsweeper Posted November 24, 2010 #3 Share Posted November 24, 2010 You won't be stopping anywhere on route to Xunantunich where Belize rum is sold. (You will pass by numerous local pubs, but I doubt you'll want to stop and certainly they don't cater to tourist tastes.) So unless the liquor store in the Tourism Village carries it (and assuming you'll even have time to shop there) you'll probably not find it. I think they distill primarily for export anyway. Their distillery/store is about 2.5 miles outside of Belize City along the northern highway, toward Ladyville where the Belkin brewry is located. But that's not the direction to Xunantunich. You'll go there via the Western Highway. And that store doesn't open until 10 AM Belize time so you'll never be able to do both unless for some reason you return to the tender pier an hour to an hour and 1/2 before the last tender time for your ship. Then grab a cab quickly. But this is widely available in the US, especially in your area of Florida, so not sure of any real savings outside the local duties.
