Reviews about the Radiance of the Seas

How are the dessert selections with Royal Caribbean? I have been on NCL and Celebrity. The desserts and the home made ice cream on celebrity were divinely spoiling. Meanwhile, I had such a bad time liking the desserts on NCL since their desserts were limiting and tasteless. It almost reminded me of eating styrofoam. Could someone tell me?

Just off the Radiance yesterday.....wonderful ship. The food varied from ok to good (cali rolls in Windjammer on first day? were great :D). After sailing on Monarch in May I wasn't expecting much service wise...what a surprise---staff was great!

The Cruise Director said this sailing had the most people he'd ever seen...2430 including 600 kids. Despite the large number, it never felt crowded. We were always able to find chairs near the pool and Windjammer.

The Radiance has sold me on Royal......can't wait to try another ship next year!

*** make sure you try the fish & chips and/or grouper salad @ Seaview Cafe...those were our favorite afternoon snacks***

Personally, I never LOVE any of the desserts that I've had on cruises. I enjoyed a few but wouldn't order most of them in a pay rest. The ice cream is not my favorite (taste like flavored ice) but my daughter and several others love it (always a line).

I did have a really good sugar-free chocolate mousse in the Windjammer. My favorite dessert on the Radiance was the Chocolate Pear Tart in Cascades (MDR)....it was delicious!

I should have expanded on my post above. What I love about the Radiance is that it never feels crowded and the staff is the best I had ever encountered.

I almost missed this cruise due to an ice storm which had our plane grounded before it even started. I then loaded up my wife and looked at weather maps as she made calls to the nearest airport that was still flying. We found one 450 miles away to the south. We could still drive it , catch a fight 18 hours later (allowed myself a day of travel but lost a hotel room and another $100 too )and still make the cruise. We left immediately, got caught up in the ice storm and it took me 13 hours to drive it. The flights cost me an additional 1k and on top of that was airport parking $ and the fact that we hit another ice storm on the way home which took me 10 hours and it was still the BEST cruise I was ever on despite being financially crushed and white knuckled for hours on end in bad driving conditions. The way down, I had cars on the sides of me wiping out left and right sliding off onto medians. I had never seen conditions that bad before and I've driven in some pretty bad stuff.

The experience on that ship had us not even thinking about what it took to make that trip. Now THAT'S special.

We have sailed Radiance twice when she was here in San Diego, the last time in May.

We love Radiance. As mentioned, Seaview Cafe is great. I thought I read that it would be removed in the upgrade, but don't quote me.

I personally like the buffet. The cookies are as big as the palm of my hand. :)

Love looking out at the ocean when using the glass elevators, and being able to see out both sides of the ship.

We have had an OV and balcony cabin. Both are nice and roomy.

All of us here were crying when she left SD. :D

love her! What more can I say? We sailed on her about 6 months ago and will be remembered as one of my favorite ships of all times. If you are in MTD, ask for Ida (it is a male and pronounced eehah). His assistant was Davesther and they were the best, but Davesther was going home right after our cruise last March...your loss, to be sure.

There was a very sweet Indian girl that was our bar water (her name was quite long but said to call her AP) -- fantastic service with the most awesome personality. If you see her, make sure you tell her that Kenny and Lisa say hi. Our room steward, Idessy (along with Nelson), were also just top notch. We actually tipped her extra throughout the cruise for all she did....said it wasn't necessary...but it was. Cannot say enough about the great service and fantastic rooms. The food was good as well and never did try a specialty restaurant. We ordered the wine package and everyone was great about making sure we had clean glasses and a bottle for our room.

We were lucky enough to get room 9078 -- amazing balcony -- never to be topped -- EVER! Had fun in the casino and great shows in the Centrum every night. We were basically right on top of the Centrum and were never bothered by the noise. Quite the contrary, we would prop our door open when getting ready for dinner. It wrapped up by 11 PM in case you are nearby and a light sleeper.

Had a great demo by the folks in the photo shop and bought a new camera onboard. Price was good but not great but needed it then....ours broke down. They took a lot of time with us to show us all the bells and whistles. Plus, it is a trinket now that will always remind us of our great cruise.

This will honestly stand out as one of the best sailings ever...mostly because of the Radiance. What a great ship with a great staff and crew.

Simply marvelous....am jealous...have a great time!!

I am a first time cruiser, leaving on radiance dec 20th. This was booked spur of the moment by my husband, and I have had trepidations. Reading your posts and your positive reviews have really helped ease the anxiety of the upcoming trip, as I have never been on one before.

Thank you!!!

Looise, they will pamper you silly and I am not kidding you either. I have been on three cruises and this will be my 4th but the first time sailing with RCI. I keep hearing good things about them but I also keep hearing about the stewards not putting wash cloths in the rooms anymore unless you request one.

The Radiance is a great ship....so great that it will probably make your standards for cruise #2 pretty high. The Radiance was my 6th cruise and I will never go back to a "regular" ship. lol ;)

Don't be afraid to order more than one of anything in the dining room. I wasn't aware of this option on my 1st cruise. But I made up for it on every other cruise. :D

Enjoy!!

This wasn't an issue for us on the Radiance last week. We always had wash cloths and never had to request them. Hopefully this won't be a problem during your cruise. Enjoy!!
