help with rental car for Port Canaveral

Hi, I am cruising from Baltimore and would like to visit Universal Studios while in port. Are the car rentals from Cape Canaveral right next to Port Canaveral, like walking distance? I would assume they are, but need to make sure. Has anyone ever rented a car while in port or is it best to just get a taxi/shuttle? I already have tickets to Universal so I don't want to book the excrusion thru Carnival. Thanks.

No they are not right next to the pier but the shuttle buses will be there to take you to the office and pick up the car then shuttle you back. It's about a 45 minute drive into Orlando

By the way, the car rentals are a few miles from the port and run shuttles. Generally, if you're flying out of Orlando you can drop the car there with no extra fee.

Enterprise might even have the car parked for you right outside in the parking lot where the taxi's wait if you request it. Definitely rent a car though...The taxi's outside the terminal will rob you!

Budget is very nice to work with. I am doing a one way rental from there on Jan 1st. They have decent one day rates.
