Surfing in Costa Rica from Windstar

We are traveling on the 3/4/11 Windstar cruise in Costa Rica. My husband wants to arrange for surfing excursions at some of the ports. Has anyone else done this?

Been on Wind Star/Costa Rica twice. Not aware of anyone arranging surfing trips. Never even heard it discussed by anyone: crew or passengers. If you are going to be in Costa Rica extra days, pre or post Wind Star, you might be able to arrange something on shore.

Just off the 12/19 sailing. Am unaware of ship sponsored tours but Nicaragua has become a major surfing area. You can check out possibilities there.
