Tipping on excursions......

Hi,

 

Quick question.........I am taking my family of five on a day sail (6.5 hours) in April and the total cost will be around $500.00. How much "tip" should I expect to give for a day trip?

T2--it depends on what kind of day you had. If it was fantastic, I would tip about 10%. Just o.k., then less. We did a day sail last year and asked around before hand and this is what we were told. Our day came to $440. and we tipped 50 because it was so much fun. JMHO.

Probably about $5 per person unless the trip was exceptional.

We tipped $20/pp. That's what I had read from many people on the boards who had done daysails in the past. We felt like 20% for our "best ever shore excursion" was money well spent.

We tipped Godfrey $10 each because his tour and customer service is exceptional. He got 50% from us and I'm sure he gets close to the same from alot of folks. I would normally tip 15-20% for an excursion otherwise.
