Bevo1 Posted December 24, 2010 #1 Share Posted December 24, 2010 I am anxious to hear from the people just off the fist cruise of the seaon on the Windstar. How was it? We are sailing Jan. 15th. Any suggestions?:cool:
cs91 Posted December 28, 2010 #2 Share Posted December 28, 2010 We had a great time and met some very nice people. Windstar's size is very conducive to that or we just had an exceptionally nice crowd. The naturalist, Carlos, is very helpful and nice, as is most of the staff. Food is very good. Currently doing a post cruise and the weather is unseasonably cool and windy. So, be prepared and bring something warm, just in case. Enjoyed the whale watching in Bahia Drake and saw 6 whales, very close up. Did a private tour of Manuel Antonio in Quepos which was very good. If you don't want to do an excursion in San Juan del Sur, the Pelican Eyes hotel is beautiful and will allow you to use their facilities. But be prepared for a long climb up to the top pool, 1 of 3. Very little shopping to speak of on this itinerary. Also, be prepared for mostly water landings. Enjoy
Bevo1 Posted December 28, 2010 Author #3 Share Posted December 28, 2010 Thank you for the information. Do we need to do any exchange of money?
cs91 Posted December 28, 2010 #4 Share Posted December 28, 2010 No, they accept USD everywhere. However, you may get change back in their currency.
MJC Posted December 30, 2010 #5 Share Posted December 30, 2010 Another vote for Pelican Eyes resort - we didn't want to do the bus trip so we arranged horseback riding in the a.m. and then were dropped at PE for lunch and the pool. They were very welcoming, and yes it is a hike to the restaurant at the top!
