coldweathergirl Posted December 27, 2010 #1 Share Posted December 27, 2010 We leave in just under a week to start our much anticipated vacation. I have never sailed on a ship where all the gratuities are included. I'm wondering whether people still offer them when service is great or at the outset of the cruise to ensure good service. I know this is a touchy subject so I thought I should get opinions here before I possibly make a faux pas. I honestly don't want to offend anyone but when I sailed on Celebrity and they included the gratuity on all alcoholic beverages, there was often an expectation of an additional tip. Thanks so much for your help.
mikenbob Posted December 27, 2010 #2 Share Posted December 27, 2010 There truly is no expectation for additional tips on PG. On prior trips, we have given a little extra to a staff fund that is available to them in times of emergencies (handled this at the guest relations/reception desk) and another time our stewardess was so extraordinarily helpful that we gave have her a pair of inexpensive earrings. coldweathergirl Posted December 29, 2010 Author #3 Share Posted December 29, 2010 Thanks Mikenbob. The fund sounds like an excellent way of saying thanks to the staff.
