Looking for information on slot pulls

Hi--I'm looking for some advice on how to run a slot pull. A fellow CC'er was kind enough to forward me some information a while back and I had a problem with my e-mail and the information was lost. My husband and I are sailing on the Princess Emerald on 2/16/11 and we have a great group of people on our board and a slot pull is one of the activities we would like to do. Any information would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

I have done many slot pulls, and I am sure there are a variety of ways to organize it.

I usually start with asking my roll call group what amount they would be willing to "donate".

We usually do a 3-coin dollar slot machine, so increments of $3.00 are called for. The average has been $15.00 per person.

Each person would get 5 spins at Max Bet.

Then you pick a day (sea day is best, obviously) and a time to meet at the casino.

You can have your group meet for lunch and then descend en-masse to the casino afterward.:D

Try choosing a machine that has other play options, such as a Wheel-of-Fortune or those that have other spinner-type buttons. That makes it a little more interesting.

Some like to have each person put the money in one at a time, others will pool all the money and put a lump sum into the machine and play from there.

When everyone has had a turn, you can either choose to cash out your winnings (I am being optimistic here) or continue on.

On my Hawaii cruise, we ended up playing over two days, just because our money was still bouncing around in the machine, and we were having too much fun. We ended up losing, but it was worth it.........

Have fun, and good luck!

My Suggestions:

Have a sign up in advance and close it before you start pulling so nobody is allowed to jump in when you are winning.

Select a quieter time in the casino if you have a crowd.

Slect a progressive slot and play max bet.

Each signed up player steps up in turn and places a set amount of cash into the game and pulls the equivelent number of times ie. $10 for 5 pulls at $2 etc.

When all are finished, you divide up the winings or leftovers equally. If the amount does not divide equally, make it to the nearest dollar with the remainder as a tip to the casino host/hostess.

The crowd gets into it as you cheer for everybody as you have a stake in their play. They can be a lot of fun just make sure everybody understands the way it works beforehand so you don't have a fight when someone hits the jackpot:D

I suggest that you use your card in the machine if you are running it to earn the points. GOOD LUCK

Have done a couple.

I would strongly suggest that you collect everyones buy-in in hand and then load up the machine. There's a myth talked about that one time players put their own money in and did their spins. Well, this person hit big and refused to share - it was big enough that it was hand pay and ss# needed.

We did a $21 buy in so each person had 7 spins. We cashed out and divided after everyone was done.

I also kept a chart and tracked everyone's wins so that high winner got the extra $ after giving everyone an equal share in the winnings.

I like the idea of collecting the buy-in in advance. It would be a bit more work for the organizer but would be worth it.

Also have a calculator with you. I don't divide so well in my head.

I didn't collect the money until there in the casino at the starting time. So if someone was a no show, they weren't in and it also gave some iffy people a chance to show. But did let them know that after x time, no more participants allowed.

It was fun. The first time, we all got $18 of our original $21 back. Second one, was much worse - like $9 back.

Thanks for all the responses. Does anyone think it is a good idea to have everyone sign some sort of waiver stating that it is a group thing, just in case we hit the "jack pot", or is that going a bit too far? Also, do I have to give the casino any kind of heads up that a group is coming in? I've never been to the casino so this is all new to me.

Happy New Year!

There were about 30 of us doing the rollcall slot pull. It was run pretty much as everyone above stated. The person in charge from the rollcall met with someone at the Casino ahead of time and we were assigned a date and time on a Sea Day. I believe we met at 3pm on the assigned day.

There was a Princess rep there to make sure we had no problems. we were assigned 2 or 3 machines of the type we wanted. Lots of cheering, etc. from onlookers.:D

If you want more details, I will email the person who handled this from the rollcall and have her come here as there were a couple of other things that we did, but for the life of me, I can't remember:eek:

I let the casino manager know before hand when we'd be doing it and they didn't seem to care or take any interest. I chose times that didn't conflict with their slot tourneys and times that weren't normally busy.

It's nice that Princess helped set it up as the prior poster said. But 30 is a large group and maybe that was why.

Hi Angel, I will be on the same cruise as the one you are going on, and must say that sounds like fun! Hopefully you will do a sign up sheet, cause I'll be on it!

Susan

Hi Susan--Glad to hear you will be with us. Have you posted on our board? We have a lot of fun stuff planned, wine tasting party, martini gathering, meet and greet, etc. Hope you can join us for all of them. Julie is going to do the organizing for the slot pull. I am just lending her a hand in gathering some info. I'm sure a sign up sheet or something similar will be started. My husband and I are hosting the wine tasting (beer for DH) and would love for you to join us. Looking forward to meeting you--Caroline

Hi Northender--

Thanks for the suggestions. I guess we will have to wait and see how many people sign up and then let Princess rep decide if we need an assigned time. I noticed Sharon posted after you and mentioned they just picked their own time, so the number of participants must be the determining factor. I would appreciate any details from the person that handled it on your cruise if they have time to replay.

I noticed your mention of the Redsox and Patriots; I'm a RI native now living in Giants, Jets, Yankees, etc. territory so it was nice to see a fellow New England fan!

Thanks for all your help--Caroline
