Mid-May or mid-September?

I have taken many a European vacation in May and it is nice, great weather, less crowded and not so many small children.

For a cruise, we choose September. Again, less children and all the benifits of summer is still there. Weather is perfect and if you choose later in September, you may be able to take advantage of grape harvest time.

We will be on Carnaval Magic the first week of May. What kind of temperatures should be be prepared for. We live in Florida and not sure what kind of clothes to pack. Sure could use some help here.

If you use a web site like wunderground.com, you can see the averages and historical highs and lows for any date.

The first week of May in Rome will have an average high of 75 and an average low of 52. The highest temperature recorded during that week is 86, and the low is 44.

Think Feb. in Tampa. If it's rainy you will need a W/P windbreaker with a very light jacket/sweater (layers). If it's sunny you might want shorts. I usually will pack light slacks, tee shirts, and shorts. A lot will depend on how many rainy days you have. The morning will be a little cool and it can warm up during the day quite a bit.

Thanks for the information. It helps. We will be in Germany, Switzerland for 9 days prior to the ship sailing where I am sure the weather will be really cool so this is a rather difficult trip to pack for. But it will be worth it. Again, thank you Dot
