Hotel recommendations

I am in the process of researching for our next cruise and I think I have decided on the Liberty out of Miami. We do not want to stay in Miami and would rather stay in Ft. Lauderdale and just use SAS transportation. So I am looking for recommendations for hotels in FLL. Also when booking airfare how late should I book for the returning flight? Thank you

We just stayed at the Sleep Inn (Dania) on 12/30 and 12/31/10. It was clean and next to a Walgreen's, a restaurant and a grocery store. It was a safe area at night. Free shuttle to/from airport. (We cruised out of Fort Lauderdale and also used their shuttle to that port. Free breakfast in the am). Rates were reasonable when compared to others in the area. Hope this helps.

The last time we sailed out of Port of Miami, we stayed at a Best Western in Fort Lauderdale the night before-which had free airport shuttle. It was nice and clean. Our flight back was after 2:00. Our TA told her not to book a flight before noon.

It is a 40+ minute ride from POM back to FLL. As long as you are off the ship by 9:00 (not hard unless the ship is delayed by weather or some legal issue ;)), that will get you to FLL by about 10:00, in plenty of time for a noon or later flight. Good luck! :)
