Best time for avoiding mosquitos and black flies?

Hi, Funny thing. When I asked when to book a cruise to Alaska to best avoid the black flies, nobody mentioned the mosquitos which can be pretty bothersome I understand. Sooooo, when is the best time to book a cruise to avoid black flies and mosquitos?

Honestly, I have been reading these boards for three years, and haven't really read about black flies being an issue. Perhaps with certain excursions? As far as mosquitos, all the warnings about mosquitos seem to be for Wonder Lake in Denali. Posters say that the mosquitos leave sometime in August. We went mid-June, with a cruise first followed by 9 days on land. We had no problems with black flies and the only mosquitos we saw were at Wonder Lake in Denali.

I have never seen any, in May or September, but, like fairies, this does not mean that they don't exist.:)
