Earliest time to book a flight out of Spirit/NOLA

My choices are 10:55 a.m. or 5 p.m. We will be spending four days prior to the cruise so we can go to Jazz Fest. After the cruise, I'm thinking we'll want to get back home. I need to book Delta and their choices are above. Is 10:55 too early to hope for or doable?

 

If not, what do we do with our luggage if we book the 5 p.m. flight?

I took a 9:30 flight out of NOLA in December off the Triumph, HOWEVER, the stars aligned just perfectly. I did VIP walk off and was one of the first 4 people off the ship and the first thru customs and into the first cab to the airport. I made it by 8:15 or so. I was on Continental and originally had a 3:30 flight because I would never book a 9:30 am flight so I paid the $50 change fee and was happy but if I had booked it originally and didn't make it it would have cost more than the $50 change fee.

 

But 10:55 is pretty decent. You will have to be able to do walk off and handle your own luggage and get off the ship pronto.
