Earliest To Book A Bus Ticket in New York

I would not bother making a reservation going to Philadelphia unless you really had to be in Philadelphia at a particular time. A 7-day advance purchase ticket is $8 per person (valid only on the schedule selected), and a reservation will cost $5 per person, in addition to the fare. The risk of not having a reservation is that a bus will fill up, and if the company does not operate extra sections, then then company will re-accommodate you on the next scheduled departure, 30 or 60 minutes later.

You may just want to wait until you are in New York, then purchase a same-day standard e-ticket for $12 (the walk-up fare would be $20). That way you will have complete flexibility, without concern over possible delays.
