stipmom Posted January 14, 2011 #1 Share Posted January 14, 2011 Someone told me there is a beach and pool by the pier with a free shuttle bus that takes you there. How far is the beach from where the ship docks? Is it in walking distance? Anyone have any pictures? Thanks

The shuttle just saves you a bit of the walk down the pier.....not really that far. I don't believe that there is a beach area where you can get in to the water in/around the shopping village. We usually take a bus to Mahajual ($3 over / $2 back) where there are tons of tables, a shallow beach, food and beverage. Charlie
seecall Posted January 21, 2011 #3 Share Posted January 21, 2011 Yes, there are some stores, restaurants and a pool right at the pier area, but for a beach place you are way better off just taking a shuttle or taxi into the small town. Nice beaches right there!

How far is the beach from where the ship docks? Is it in walking distance? Anyone have any pictures? Thanks Someone recently posted a thread titled "Pictures from our Oct 30 cruise" - it's on the front page of the board right now. It has some nice photos of the area & can help in seeing what to expect. In those photos, the beach area pics are, I think, taken from the beach area in town in Majahual. As someone mentioned, it's a few minutes cab ride away & not costly to get to (cab fare is $3 pp going, $2 pp coming back). Food & beverages are easily found there for affordable prices (very cheap prices compared to most places that are convenient to a cruise stop). The very last pic in that slideshow is taken from onboard a ship, looking back down the pier to land. The pool is within the entertainment/shopping complex at the base of the pier. You can kinda see the pool in that pic - just to the right of the purpleish/reddish colored part of the building. It looks to be a nice pool, with a swim-up bar. We didn't spend any time (or money) there - were headed to the beach on the way & planned to take a swim & have a drink when we returned but got back a little late & didn't have time.
