AFC/NFC championship games televised in sports bar on AOS 1/23/11

Trying to figure how us Steeler's fans can catch the entire AFC championship game on Sunday, Jan. 23 and NOT miss dinner at the late sitting. Although we've cruised RCCL before, we haven't had dinner in the Windjammer. Can anyone attest to quality of the dinner there and would the sports bar be televising both NFC and AFC championship games? :)

My past experience is that most major sporting events will be televised, usually in the Schooner Bar. Go Steelers!

When I was on NOS on Jan. 8 they also showed the playoff games on your cabin TV using the ESPN channel (even for games on other networks). Much better since there was very limited seating in the Sports Bar.

We cruised in December and the NFL games were televised in the Schooner Bar. I'm positive both games will be on. There will be mutiny if they aren't! As for dinner at the Windjammer. We have only missed eating in the dining room twice on seven cruises, but one happened to be last month with a late excursion. The Windjammer had many of the dining room options(checked menu to see what we thought we were going to miss) just in buffet style. The one thing that I enjoyed about the Windjammer was that I think I tried every dessert that they had(all of the dining room desserts were available). Your drawback is that you will have to do without your wait staff for one night.

Just remember that the Windjammer closes at 9. We were on the Majesty a few months ago and intended to go to Windjammer one night. We went to the show and a few other things and then went to eat. It was closed. For me, that was not good as I have Celiac and couldn't eat in any of the other places, so we had no choice but to go to the dining room in shorts. I know other people have done this, but for us it was mortifying as we have never worn shorts to the DR.

 

So, keep that in mind while watching the games. For me of course, it's GO PACKERS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I hope we meet your Steelers in TX!!!

This past weekend on the Monarch I believe all 4 playoff games were shown; I caught bits and pieces of several of them. They had TV's in the Schooner Bar and the Casino Bar that are always there. They also had a couple of big TV's that it looked like they had pulled out and set up in Bolero's specifically for the games.

Anytime that we have cruised with RCI during football season, we have found that whatever games are shown on the TVs in public areas are also shown on the TV in your stateroom. Not sure how best to schedule your dining to maximize your football game viewing but I'm sure you will work something out.:)
