I just read that there are no safes in the cabins on the Monarch. Does one have to carry their purses and wallets around with them? Are their safes at the pursers office?

There are safes in rooms on deck 9 and above. I have had rooms on deck 8 that have had safes but do not know if all the rooms on deck 8 have them.

 

The rooms below deck 8 do not have them.

Just off the Monarch today (Jan 17). Our cabin (4587) did not have a safe. You can always go to the purser's desk to obtain a safe deposit box with them. I lock my valuables in my suitcase.

I was on the Monarch late 11/29-12/3. There WAS a safe in my room, deck 8. That being said, I did put some cash in it, but never worried about my purse being out with cards in it, nor the MacBook Pro, iPad, iPhones, or new nice camera. Of course, that's me and as soon as I say it's all safe someone will undoubtedly have a story to the contrary. I don't think theft by room stewards is a common issue onboard. I think it's safer in the room than carrying it all around amongst many passengers. There are also safe deposit boxes at the main desk. Some people do "lock" their stuff in their luggage if they don't have safes which seems to be a logical solution.

We didn't have a safe in our deck 3 cabin. We didn't carry our wallets around - just tucked them out of sight.
