Port or Starborad on Alaska Inside Passage?

We are currently booked in a Port side cabin with veranda on Mercury 6/11/04 departure from Seattle. My question is should we try to get a starboard cabin for the better view (and is it a better view) or will we be coming back the same way and get the same view on the return trip from our port side cabin. It is a CC cabin on Penthouse deck at the front of the ship. Thanks in advance with any suggestions. Scott
