hi

after many years of lurking around cruise, i finally did my first cruise and i just got back

and there is one word awsome

my dad came with me and all is preconceived idea about cruise got crushed, he is not exactly a cruise junkie but now he is willing to do more cruise in the future

before, he had preconceived idea such as, its for old people, it will be bored on a ship, there is nothing to do exept sun bathing (and my dad is not very much into staying on a beach and do nothing)

the ship we did was the norwegian sky, among the ships we shopped among was majesty of the seas and carnival fascination but it was the norwegian sky who won because of the freestyle and the fact that it offered balcony

the day on the arrival on the cruise ship, we took the afternoon to familiarise with how its work on a cruise ship, were to go for the drill and we tried the cagney steakhouse, while eating, we were watching heat lightning

on freeport, we tried a excursion as i heard it isnt the best place to venture on your own as you need vehicule to get around, we did a 12 miles bycicle ride with some stop on place and beach were we took some picture, the guide was very good, explaining lots of stuff about bahamas

at night, we tried another restaurant wich was amazing and tried the casino

nassau, we decided to visit the city on our own, we walked to around the harbor then headed for fort fincastle, then to fort charlotte and walked back to the harbor to take a ice cream before we crossed the bridge to go to the atlantis resort, we ate lunch there. then took a small ships back to the norwegian sky and took a nap before diner time

third day, at great stirrup cay, as i am not much a resort guy, neither my dad, among the activity was a guided tour of the ship were we visited the kitchens, the palce where the wash clothe, the fridges, the cargo bay and finally the bridge. as a guy who love big ships, i jumped on the occasion as i always dreamed to see the bridge of an actual working cruise ship

i visited lots of museum ship including the queen mary at long beach

then we decided to go to great stirrup cay for a bit to see how its look like and see the ambiance, took a hot dog, a beer and some picture before we left for the ship

at night, we went to the theather and played the wii wich was available on the ship

and finally we came back to miami suprisingly satisfied about the cruise

all or fear and preconceived idea about cruise completely crushed

my final conclusion, i will finally do a cruise again, all i need is to get vacation time available and a travelling companion

my next cruise will probably be either somewhere in the carribean in january or alaska for mai 2012

its very far away but unfortunately, cruise are pretty expensive

Be sure and shop.. they can have great buys too. I usually check the ship lines own sites as well as others, and use their people to book. sometimes we do balcony sometimes OV, and sometimes inside. We rarely spend any time in our room, so while many people really use the balcony a lot, we rarely did, too much to do on the ship and ports.

Sounds like you had an awesome time,.. have fun and good luck cruising.
