cancel land part of cruisetour to do our own

We have reservations to alaska with princess the end of July, 7day cruise and 4 day land. We would like to cancel the land part and do our own...renting a car. Has anyone cancelled before and how likely is it that I can cancel and still keep the same room on the ship. Will they make me cancel all and rebook just the cruise?

Posters have occasioinally done this. Contact your booking agent and inquire. I commend you for doing something about a cruisetour, you have since found out, about it not being what you thought it was. Many people just talk themselves into, it being a practice trip and don't make changes. :)
