Recommendation of compact binoculars?

Hi, I've been reading the posts about binoculars but I only saw one mention of a brand name. Could anybody please recommend a couple of brand names for compact binoculars? I do not want to spend a ton of money but would like a decent compact binocular also for Alaska wildlife viewing. Any brands to avoid? Thanks. Joyce
