Carnival's answer to Oasis?

How many ships does CCL vs RCCL and why is the worth of the company so much huuuuuuuuuuger?

Carnival is the umbrella company for as we said earlier, Carnival, Princess, Aida, Seabourn, Cunard, Holland America, P&O, Costa (might be missing a few more I'm not ware of). So yeah thats what I mean by huuuuuuuge compared to RCCL. RCCL owns Azamara, Celebrity and RCCL. Understand now? 3 lines as compared to 8 (that I know of). Big Difference, "HUGE"

it reflects the worth of the companies.

try to enjoy your dinner, knowing the food is better on CCL. ;)

Wrong again.

Market capitalization/capitalisation (often market cap) is a measurement of the size of a business enterprise (corporation) equal to the share price times the number of shares outstanding of a public company.

Good night.

Carnival has twice as many berths as Royal but four times the market cap. Hmmmm.

Sarge as you said, options suck and are stupid. So I will send you that Motel 8 brochure the one with a pool and waterslide. Way cheaper too. You never did tell us your age by the way. I hope its no older then 17.

I personally HATE the size of Oasis, and Allure. I would never sail on something that big, even if it were a Carnival ship. ( I have sailed twice on RCCL and will NEVER sail them again no matter what.. they reek!!). I have sailed on Dream, and even that to me is too big, but only because of the Lido deck area. Carnival chose to build a ship that holds 800 more people than the Conquest Class does, yet they used the exact same Lido deck specs... The Lido buffet as well as the pool deck are WAY TOO SMALL for 800 more passengers. Carnival seriously dropped the ball there and it doesn't look like they are fixing it, since the Magic and Breeze are being built exactly the same as Dream... I'll stick to Conquest class ( been on Glory and Conquest).. To be honest, I LOVE the smaller Fantasy class ships.

Amazing

Never stepped foot on them and you just know

Ah yes, when you have nothing intelligent to say, attack the poster.

I apologize for offending you. You're just not making much sense to me. You say "cookie cutter design"ed ships by Carnival are the key to success and no new innovation is needed and more options or as you say gimmicks are stupid. That's just.......retarded. Again I apologize.

I never said gimmicks were stupid, you did. Innovation in moderation is one thing - what RCCL does is just plain bizarre and a stretch.

Is Carnival a better run business than RCCL? Absolutely.

Carnival owns how many lines? and RCCL owns 3. I think I know why they make more money, they have probably what 20 or 30 more ships? Costa, Princess, Carnival, Cunard? What else am I missing?

RCL $ 10.2 MILLION PER SHIP, all lines combined

CCL $ 15.2 MILLION PER SHIP, all lines combined.

That's 50% better per ship.

NET INCOME FOR THE QUARTER MENTIONED.

Last year CCL netted over a Billion for the year. A poor year for them. RCL made a small profit from equipment sales in one quarter. The rest of the year was a <loss>.

Market cap refers to the number of shares times their value. Simply put, since CCL shares are worth roughly the same as RCL ones, CCL has issued more common shares.

You won't find lox on a Carnival ship either.

I know I havnt sailed Carnival for a couple years but when did they stop serving LOX:eek:

I guess I should have read more posts and realized it might not be up to your standards but they do serve it still

So? If RCCL issued the same number of shares, would their stock price go up or down? Is CCL's credit rating higher or lower than RCL's? No ifs, ands, or buts, RCL stock is overvalued.

If Warren Buffett wanted to buy either company, which would cost less?

I was pointing out that you were using terms incorrectly.

I don't really care whose credit rating is superior and have said several times CCL is easily worth more than RCL.

You spoke earlier of RCL gimmicks and CCL's innovations. I'd be interesting to know what you meant by that? What has Carnival introduced to cruising in the past 5 years that hasn't been borrowed from another brand?

Flexible Dining? NCL

Jumbotrons? Princess

What did CCL introduced or innovate that changed the industry?

Besides profitability?

NCL didn't invent flexible dining.

That RCCL knows better than to build another Oasis class is proof that Carnival made the right decision.

Market capitalization is absolutely an indication of worth, as in value. Perhaps you are confusing worth with net worth.

Worth and value are very different things to the subtle mind but I give up. It's like trying to talk to a lawn sprinkler. You answer only the questions that don't weaken your position and distort the rest.

Enjoy living in your bubble.

IMO the future is innovation and if Carnival backs away they will lose out. It is a younger generation cruising these days and they want more bells and whistles....This coming from a 33 year old that thinks the metro mover is great.

The trick is to find out what innovation really is. Innovation in the tech world has been to put more into less. Everything seems to be getting smaller but providing a lot more of utility. That may be the place to look as an example.

Baby Boomers still rule and are spending the younger generation's inheritance as fast as we can. ;)

As long as you can pay for your bells and whistles, enjoy!

Indeed we do and a good portion of us are not our parents who where willing to settle down in our golden years. Our gym has a rock wall. If I want to surf I can drive an our or two to the ocean. Cirque comes through here once every year or two. Casinos within an hour or so drive. And on and on and on.

We enjoyed all of the ships that we have been on so far but the Carnival Pride was a really great ship. And it has a number of advantages that would fit well into an idea I have from reading a lot of what Carnival Cruisers have said on this board about what they would like.

Build three, yep three, Spirit type ships with a bump in speed, locate them on the three coasts of the US in a suitable port that could be driven to or flown to. Each ship would do a 5 day and a 9 day voyage. Make one entirely "smoke free". Make all three adults, 21 and over, only. There is a reason for this and it's not because I don't like kids. More on that reason in a moment. We've never had a problem with having kids aboard on any of our cruises including the Disney Wonder. Then rotate them on a 12 or 18 month interval. There could be a 'theme' cruise once a quarter typed to whatever current home port region they are in.

The idea of adults only saves space, no need to have areas for Camp Carnival, reduces to need to carry typical child preferred food stuffs and limits the number of cabins that would sleep more than 3 passengers.

For example, a ship on the east coast could port in a location that could make it up into Canada and back in 9 days. There could be stops in one or more US cities as well. The advantage of this is it could be marketed to European passengers that wanted to see some of the US and Canada without having to ride a bus or train or drive a car. The same could be done with any of the other two ships. In addition, when the rotation would be done, each of them could be in the Panama Canal at the same time. I think that might be a record for Guinness Record Book. :D

Just a thought.

They serve smoked salmon. I think Mr. Pete is referring to belly lox. You probably can't even find it on a boat sitting at the pier in Red Hook. Whatever happened to tradition? Oh, I know...it's a whole nova world. :(

Must be the subtle language difference.

Canada has talking sprinklers? Amazing. Innovative. Do you talk to yours often?

My bubble? Not exactly my bubble, but the innovative smoke free Carnival Paradise was a way ahead of it's time bubble. Now Celebrity is attempting to get close.

As for my bubble? It's called reality.
