i'm wondering if you get a calling card will it work from any of the islands in the caribbean or on the ships phone? what is the best way to call back to the usa? thanks

Calling cards you buy in the U.S. are to make calls from the U.S. to elsewhere. You can purchase calling cards in most ports to use from that country. Calling cards would not work with the ship's phone. The ship's phone costs about $8 per minutes, so really is just for emergencies. Many cell phones work on ships and cost about $2.50 per minute. In many ports calling cards are available for around $5 for half an hour of talk time (this varies, but is an average figure) - so that by far is the best deal.

The calling cards you buy in the US are for calling from the US to some place. The internet is really a very good way to keep in touch. You can also use your cellphone, depending on your carrier and your plan. You can purchase international roaming for short periods of time. Check with your carrier. The ship's phones are very expensive and so is their cell service, so make sure you only call from land!
