Excursions with young kids

Hoping you can help. Going to Barbados for the first time on AOS and looking for ideas to do with our young kids (aged 6 and 7). They love the beach so that is an option and have also read about snorkling with the turtles. Any preference on this island or any other great ideas. Thanks very much.

I would recommend Shasa. We were on their catamaran last week and they take you to 2 sites, including the turtles. They take a small group, only 12 passengers. There was a family who brought their 2 children and their youngest (I believe he was 5) was kind of scared of the water, but wanted to see the turtles so Jason (the captain) helped him learn how to snorkle and by the end of the trip, you couldn't get the little boy out of the water! Swimming with the turtles was a blast!

We went to Barbados in Feb 09 with our son aged 8 and twin daughters aged 5 - we booked a private tour with glory tours for 4-5 hours.

 

First they took us to Holetown where we got on a boat and went out to see the turtles, at the time none of my kids were keen swimmers so only hubby got in the water but the kids could see the turtles through the glass bottom of the boat. As there were only a couple of turtles about they took us to a different location and gave the kids some bread to throw over the side and the boat was surrounded by loads of beautiful fish the kids had the best time.

 

We then went to the monkey reserve/wildlife park and then because we had some time left our driver drove us over the east coast to bathsheba. On the way back he stopped off and got some sugar cane and showed the kids how to strip it and get to the raw sugar.

 

It was one of the best tours we have done.
