A Visit from the Upgrade Fairy!

My aunt and I booked a Guarantee 11C standard interior room on our upcoming Wonder Mexican Riviera cruise. We have been patiently awaiting our stateroom assignment and finally got it. We got upgraded from a standard inside room to a deluxe oceanview room on deck 1! Very excited!!!

However, I did notice that the deck 1 oceanview rooms have two smaller windows instead of the one large window. Can anyone offer insight on this? How small are the windows? Are they at eye level? How is the view?

Either way just excited to have a split bath and have some daylight coming into our cabin!!! :)

On our first DCL cruise, we were in one of those staterooms on deck 1. It did have two non-opening portholes, each one about 18~20" +/- in diameter. Being on deck one, it was only about 15 feet above the water, so they tended to accumulate a lot of spray and salt residue. They are at eye level, and we enjoyed the views from them. They also have hinged metal covers that can be clamped down to shut out the light (although their real purpose is to seal the opening in case the glass breaks - very unlikely given the thickness of the glass).

The stateroom was totally adequate for our party of four adults. The split bathroom was a definite plus.

So, did you *find out* about the upgrade by determining which *room* you were in, once it was assigned and announced to you? Or, did you get a call (or other notification) of upgrade? OR, did you call DCL and request an upgrade?

Thanks, in advance, for your reply!

When I log in to the Disney Cruise website, it used to say "Standard Inside Room 11C, #GTY" or something like that. As of this morning, it says "Standard Inside Room 11C" but instead of "#GTY" it says an actual room number. If you look at the deck plans, that room number is a deluxe oceanview room on the 1st deck.
