beach410 Posted February 11, 2011 #1 Share Posted February 11, 2011 I would like to try a different class ship, but have to stay in the 5 day range, only options I can find are Triumph and the Destiny. I havent seen many Triumph reviews and the recent Destiny bashing has me a bit worried. Are the bathrooms really gross? Are either of this ships scheduled for make overs anytime soon? Any recent pictures of the rooms, publlic areas, pools anyone can share? Out of these two, which do you think is in better shape? Thanks for any feedback you can provide! I've been on both, and enjoyed both immensely. They are very similar in class. Don't let the negativity get you down, there is one particular poster with an agenda against the Destiny. Pick one, and go find out for yourself. A cruise is what you make of it, and I haven't had a bad one yet. You can google images of each ship, or do searches on here for reviews & pictures, just take other's feedback with a grain of salt.
mjrich73 Posted February 11, 2011 #3 Share Posted February 11, 2011 We cruised on the Triumph twice in the past year and a half...we loved it!!! The layout at 1st can be confusing, but you will get the hang of it pretty quickly. Have a wonderful cruise!!!! :D
LBumb Posted February 11, 2011 #4 Share Posted February 11, 2011 have cruised both but destiny was years ago.
richbum Posted February 11, 2011 #5 Share Posted February 11, 2011 I can only tell you about the Destiny. I was on her 1/6-1/10. We had a great time. Yes it is an older ship with the pink bathrooms, but who cares. We had a great time, and the staff was amazing. The rooms were fine too. We had a balcony room with the bunk that comes down from the ceiling. The room was always clean, and the public areas were also always clean, or there was someone always cleaning them. Whichever you choose, have a great time. Attached is the link to my photos. Please feel free to take a look. nlt46 Posted February 11, 2011 #7 Share Posted February 11, 2011 I vote for the Triumph. My daughter met her husband on that ship. We had a ball. But.. I've never had a bad cruise and I'm up to 18 now. Nancy
beach410 Posted February 11, 2011 Author #8 Share Posted February 11, 2011 Thanks everyone! We love NO too! I also read that they still have the old fashtioned tvs, ie; not flat..LOL, I dont watch tv, so this really doesnt bother me if they dont take up necessary counter space. I wonder if either is scheduled to be updated at all. Also, do either of these ships have a basketball court? They are sorely missed from my boys when the Fantasy removed them for their slides. We had a flat panel on the Destiny. I don't know if all of the rooms have the or not, but it was not on the dresser, it was more in front of the bed in its own little spot in a bookcase type thing. I believe that I read Destiny is scheduled for Drydock next January. I don't remember if there was a basketball court or not...sorry.

Maybe I will start another thread with the question about the basketball courts, they dont always show on the deck plans on the Carnival website. hankandteri Posted February 11, 2011 #14 Share Posted February 11, 2011 Was just on Triumph. I'm 99.9 percent sure there was a basketball goal topside.
cortneyward Posted February 11, 2011 #15 Share Posted February 11, 2011 did you notice if they had a basketball court? Thanks! I am almost positive they did...but forgive me if I'm mistaken. If you search for the "triumph", my review is the one from 1/31/
klmorg Posted February 11, 2011 #16 Share Posted February 11, 2011 did you notice if they had a basketball court? Thanks! I did a quick search on this forum and found where folks posted that both Destiny & Triumph have basketball courts: Destiny- http://boards.cruisecritic.com/showthread.php?t=1308738&highlight=destiny+basketball http://boards.cruisecritic.com/showthread.php?t=1145624&highlight=destiny+basketball Triumph- http://boards.cruisecritic.com/showthread.php?t=1348924&highlight=triumph+basketball http://boards.cruisecritic.com/showthread.php?t=1334549&highlight=triumph+basketball
LHP Posted February 11, 2011 #17 Share Posted February 11, 2011 Sailed on the Triumph twice in October and the Destiny once in December... either one is a good choice. We had a blast on both!!!
luv cruising 007 Posted February 12, 2011 #18 Share Posted February 12, 2011 there both fun ships & have the huge TV screen & bascially the same features! but on itinerary alone the 5 night eastern carrib. with Grand Turk, Half Moon Cay, & Nassau is the better one too choose! the beach/ lagoon in Half Moon Cay is Dreamy! loved the power soft pink/goldish sand & clear blue water & smooth ocean bottom! no rocks, seaweed ETC. to step on! jwlnroe Posted February 13, 2011 #20 Share Posted February 13, 2011 Triumph is what I would go with.. we sailed on her and it was a great time.. the recent Destiny reviews would steer me away from that ship. the Triumph is a great ship in my opinion. :D
CynLovesCrusing Posted February 13, 2011 #21 Share Posted February 13, 2011 I too have been on both. Triumph 2007 and Destiny 2009. I realize that those are a few years back, but they are essentially the same. Go with the itinerary you like best.
scgamecock Posted February 13, 2011 #22 Share Posted February 13, 2011 I've been on two amazing Triumph cruises and I love cruising out of New Orleans, but I really like Destiny's itinerary. Read some bad stuff though, so I'd pick Triumph between the two.
