normboff Posted February 13, 2011 #1 Share Posted February 13, 2011 Prior to our departure on the Celebrity Equinox in June, we will be staying three nights in Florence. We would like to know if anyone has used a tour guide in Florence and also between Florence and Civitavecchia. I'm on a scooter and we will be with another couple so we'll need a van. Any help is appreciated..
lois2 Posted February 16, 2011 #2 Share Posted February 16, 2011 We used All Around Italy (owner Fabrizio Melaragno) in Livorno, Civitivecchia & Naples. My husband uses a rollator so we didn't feel like we could keep up in a larger group. Therefore we booked a van just for the 2 of us. The result was fantastic! We could never have done what we did without them. In Rome they got our tickets ahead for the Colissium and drove us to the handicapped entrance & we walked right in - no line. For the Vatican Museum you can get tickets ahead online & Fabrizio or his tour guides will take you as close as possible. At the Naples port we chose to do the Amalfi Coast, fantastic day! At the Livorno port, instead of Florence, we chose to go to Lucca for the day but Fabrizio would have taken us to Florence had we chosen. They will fashion your day as you want, you are not locked into a set tour. In route to the destinations they give you expert commentary about what you are going to see & also about day to day life in their cities, (which I am always interested in) Our guides were Andrea in Rome, Priscilla for the Amalfi Coast & Luca in Lucca. They were all great! And Fabrizio checked in on us several times a day to make sure all was going well. And last but not least, they found wonderful, non-touristy restaurants for us to enjoy lunch each of the days! If you do a search there are reviews here on Cruise Critic and he also has a website; allarounditaly.net Enjoy your trip! Lois
