redladya Posted February 14, 2011 #2 Share Posted February 14, 2011 If you have a car, drive to Palos Verdes (about 5-10 minutes from San Pedro harbor) & watch it from the cliffs or beach. Or were you looking for a restaurant to watch it from?
chinita415 Posted February 14, 2011 #3 Share Posted February 14, 2011 From the port area, the sunset is not over water due to the topography. If you stay in San Pedro, you can go to White Point and view the sunset over the mountains on top of the cliffs or down at the beach. Or, you can hike up to the old bunkers on the hill on the other side of the road to get a higher vantage point. On a clear day, you can see Catalina and beyond. Many locals walk their dogs there and go there to see the cruise ships leave on departure days. http://www.pacificwilderness.com/Dive%20Sites/LA%20County/San%20Pedro/White%27s%20Point/San%20Pedro%20-%20White%20Point.htm Other places high up in Pedro are Friendship Park and the Korean Bell Pavilion http://www.sanpedro.com/sp_point/frndprk.htm http://www.sanpedro.com/sp_point/korenbel.htm I like to take people to Nelson's at the Terranea Resort in PV for a sunset cocktail. It's a beautiful setting. http://www.terranea.com/palos-verdes-restaurant.php

Wineaux Posted February 15, 2011 #5 Share Posted February 15, 2011 If you are staying at the Crowne Plaza you may be able to view it from the roof...next closet would be the Korean Bell or Point Fermin Park. We take our dog to Terrenea and go to Nelson's for a quick bite and a beer, watch the sunset and then go home but this requires a car from San Pedro. CaseyJr Posted February 15, 2011 #6 Share Posted February 15, 2011 That would be my vote - Nelsons at Terrenea. Warning.... It is supposed to start raining on Wednesday.
Splinter Posted February 15, 2011 #7 Share Posted February 15, 2011 If you have a car, drive over to Palos Verdes and have dinner at Admiral Risty's. A great view, and good food. If it is clear, you can see Catalina. There are also good views from the Point Vicente Interpretive Center (whale watching center and museum) near there, although I believe they close prior to sunset. Cabunit Posted February 22, 2011 #10 Share Posted February 22, 2011 Trump National also has a public access park on the cliff above the water with picnic tables - in other words, free. We have some great sunset pictures from there.
andreadan Posted February 22, 2011 #11 Share Posted February 22, 2011 As a San Pedro local, I concur with all of the above.
