Bar happy hours

I am an Elite cruiser with Celebrity and wondered if I have been suffering from Ostrich syndrome as I have never noticed before a happy hour at the Bars on Celebrity! We were on the 29 January sailing on Eclipse and during the 7 night cruise there were happy hours sometimes between 1600 & 1800 then again at 2200-0000 on some days then another day it would be the 1600 only or 2200 only! The happy hours were BYGOF a considerable saving!

Thank you for your reply. Does not look as though this is a regular event, hopefully will become so in the future as it gave the ship a buzz, more people in bars, ship a bit livelier! I am sure they would break even if this was extended as more people bought drinks during these times raising their profit, as the costs of alcohol are minimal compared to the bar charges!

I have heard that if they have happy hours its at the descretion of the Bar Manager and depending on how sales are going depends on whether or not there are happy hours. I was on the Millie in November, no happy hours there that I was aware of.

I want happy hours if Celebrity is listening.

I would drink more and you would make more money.

If you would like reduced price drinks, a la "happy hour", the secret is for all of the cruisers on the ship to not order bar drinks for the first two days. The Bar Manager will review the alcohol sales, and decide that a group of (pick a religious affinity) have boarded. In order to get the sales numbers up, she will start having happy hours.

You see, it's a game of chicken. The one who blinks first loses!

On our January Eclipse cruise we went to the Ensemble Lounge after dinner (around 10:00PM) the first two nights and it was virtually empty. Then the next night they had the 2 for 1 deal. Frankly, the entire ship except for the Martini Bar and Casino was pretty quiet each evening. Must have been those Penny slots in the casino.

  • 2 weeks later...

On the Eclipse last week they had happy hour 2 for 1 drinks from 4 to 6 at most of the bars on the ship. We don't often drink that early and if we do it is often at the Elite Lounge, but we did enjoy this a couple days at the aft bar while the ship was sailing away from an island. They applied it to both alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages there. The daily bulletin on the ship had conflicting language as to whether it was all bars and lounges or "select" ones - but did specifically indicate that the molecular bar was only buy one get one for 50% rather than 2 for 1.

I notice a lot of these postings are about only the Eclipse. We're on the Constellation in a few weeks and I hope they have this special too!
