Anyone Missed Coco Cay lately?

Planned for a stop at Coco Cay on March 17th and this is the day I am most looking forward to on this cruise. We have been to Coco Cay and absolutely love this stop. Just checking to see if anyone has missed this island in the past couple of weeks?

Not recently, but in Mar 2010, we missed CoCo Cay on the Freedom due to water conditions.

 

We went back to CoCo Cay the very next week on the Monarch and we got to the island, but it was nearly aborted again.

 

The ironic thing was that 60% of our cruises have been in the Sep-Oct timeframe when hurricanes are active - and even one cruise in 2005, and we have never missed a port or had a schedule change due to a hurricane. Came close, but never had to make a change.

 

But then we missed CoCo Cay in March, outside of the hurricane season...

 

One of the crew members remarked to me that out of the previous 10 weeks, they had to abort 8 times. I am not sure if that is common this time of the year or last year was a fluke.

We "sort of" missed it last June on Majesty. Just as the tender made it to the island the monsoon hit. I have never seen it rain that hard for that long. We ran to the bar and stood under the shelter for about an hour. Then word came that they were evacuating the island. So we made our way back to the tender boat through the poring rain, thunder and lightning. Looks like a nice place, just wish we could have seen it.:(

We are about 60/40 (got there / did not). You can see when we were scheduled there in our previous cruises to the Bahamas in our signature. I don't believe there is any way to predict this. :(

We were there two weeks ago on the Monarch. The seas were a little rough but they did it anyway. Nice place.:) Hopefully going back one day when the water is warmer to snorkle. It was too cool for this Floridian.

We made the stop on the Freedom the week of 2/13 - 2/20. Wonderful day!

We will be going to there on March 14th, can anyone tell me a little about it. I was pretty much expecting a beach day which sound great considering we have just had major snow falls. What else is there on this island?

How windy was it? I was checking the weather for the Bahamas area and they are showing 10mph winds. Do you think that would be too windy to make Cocoa Cay?

We went labor day week last year and made it. Sept 4th I think it was.

 

Maybe I am lucky but I have been 3 times and all 3 we went. Twice in September and once in January.

we missed it April 2010 on Freedom. - One of the staff said it's about 50/50

Going again in a few weeks so fingers crossed we'll make it this time

Missed it December 5th. I was really looking forward to it. I love Labadee and I wanted to see how it compared.

We are scheduled for CocoCay on April 12th on the Monarch. If the ship is unable to make CocoCay will it just go to Nassau earlier and give us extra time there or just sit docked off the island?

We have experienced that on several occasions.
