Gem - What to expect when boarding at ports of call

How to ask...

What should I expect when I reboard at a port of call? I assume I walk through a magnetron, my back pack (I am a mom - I carry everything!) goes through a scanner.

Do I get searched at all. Will the magnetron detect liquids for example?

;)

It's not that big a deal. Nothing like when you board originally and go through the airport type search.

Ordinarily you walk up the gangway, give your card to the security officer who dings you aboard and if you have any carry ons just put them on the belt. You wander on through and pick up your stuff on the other side.

If you have purchased liquor onshore and plan on claiming it, tell the officer as you board and they will send you to a table to get a receipt for it.

It is not a big hassel.

In most ports, there will be a gate at the shore end of the pier with a security guard and you will need to show your keycard to pass through. In Cozumel you need to show a photo ID as well
