timetravel Posted June 8, 2014 #1176 Share Posted June 8, 2014 Looking forward to our June 22 cruise on the Dream! We have a beautifully decorated and expansive inside Suite with Virtual Balcony. We will be taking advantage of the Drink Package. We love Chocolate Martini's, the ones on the Sunshine are out of this world. Hope they are as good on Dream. By the 2nd day the Virtual Balcony will be a real Balcony. And the 185 sq. ft. Suite will seem so big! By the 6th day, well, I can't think that far ahead. Is the drink package worth it? Is country music played all day at the pool, as I read early in the thread? Hope not. Don't think bikinis and cowboy boots go together... Maybe by the 5th day they will. Anyway, if anybody wants to meet, we will be all over the ship drinking Chocolate Martinis, this is our 37th cruise, 5th on Carnival.
timetravel Posted June 8, 2014 #1177 Share Posted June 8, 2014 Anyway, I had a question, I forgot to add. Do both in the cabin have to get the drink package? Just got off the Caribbean Princess last week, our 1st and last Princess cruise. Princess is not what they say they are. Food was terrible, staff worse. No bartender knows what a Chocolate Martini is. But the Princess website says both in cabin have to get the package, but onboard they say no, only one has to. Which is good, the wife can sip 1-2 a day, so its not worth it. Hope I can get the package only.

Will you please report back after your cruise to let me know how the air conditioning on the ship is now? I'm hoping in the summer months they allow the passengers to be "cool" instead of "luke warm"........ugh!
timetravel Posted June 8, 2014 #1181 Share Posted June 8, 2014 I will, I will. We love it cold. Usually an inside cabin is very cold. As much as I love balconies, I can turn out all the lights and it is midnight anytime of the day for a nap.
Bookbug53 Posted July 5, 2014 #1182 Share Posted July 5, 2014 60 pages of posts and yes I did a search. ;) For those that did the Cheers program out of NOLA, at what point did they stop charging the tax on your drinks? After you cleared the Mississippi?
Susu444 Posted July 5, 2014 #1183 Share Posted July 5, 2014 We have been on the Dream several times. One of our friends needed gluten free meals. The Dream was able to offer them a variety of foods that met their needs. Have fun on your cruise!
Gari Posted July 7, 2014 #1184 Share Posted July 7, 2014 I am sailing on November 9th and I am loving this post. Have been on the Dream a couple of times but it has been years so thanks all.

tootsiebit Posted July 7, 2014 #1187 Share Posted July 7, 2014 So glad I found this thread on the Dream, and really glad we are sailing in March 2015, because it is going to take me all that time to go thru all the pages for the tips and info on the ship. Really looking forward to the cruise and 5 days post cruise in New Orleans. This has been on our list of port city to visit along with a cruise from New Orleans, so we are very excited for this vacation next year. With all the reading here and the excursion reading and the information on things to do in New Orleans, I have enough reading until we leave in March. malmo288 Posted July 13, 2014 #1188 Share Posted July 13, 2014 I'm considering doing some spa packages for the first time on a cruise and I'm a big budgeter. Does anyone know where I can find the pricing and what services are offered in the spa? And those of you who have used spa services, which would you recommend? Any favorites? Does anyone know where I can find the pricing and what services are offered in the spa? And those of you who have used spa services, which would you recommend? Any favorites? You can go here to find the services offered: http://www.carnival.com/onboard/cruise-spa/spas-cloud-9.aspx I've had a massage at $90 p/p. I also know if you want to just use the facilities (thermal suites and thalasso pool) here is the pricing list: http://www.shipcruise.org/carnival-cloud-9-spa-room-package-prices/ I loved the spa on the Dream and only used the facilities as I had a spa room. I hope this helps!

Kriskris70 Posted July 15, 2014 #1191 Share Posted July 15, 2014 I have a free cruise compliments of the casino and have heard lots about the cove balcony, but considering I won't have to pay additional fees for the higher levels I'm thinking I should take advantage of this...any suggestions...considering upper deck (6) aft back, or panorama (11)... The higher the level the higher the price...but again I'm not paying this trip :)
CruziiQ Posted July 16, 2014 #1192 Share Posted July 16, 2014 Does anybody know how to make the Beachcomber from the red frog rum bar? Maybe even a simpler version of it?? Sent from my iPhone using Forums mobile app
Kriskris70 Posted July 17, 2014 #1193 Share Posted July 17, 2014 Beachcomber: rum (coconut or regular), triple sec, lime juice and cherry juice Or some may put orange juice to substitute the trip sec. That's what I know as a bartender, but over years of bar tending people tend to change the recipes. But main ingredients are rum, lime, and cherry juice, u can add simple syrup (sugar water) makes it too sweet for me. :D

We are sailing in September and have a Cove balcony. Have read a lot of Good things about them. Good luck in your decision. Maybe higher up would be better, 11 or 12 :)
kaosx Posted July 21, 2014 #1195 Share Posted July 21, 2014 I have read that on the Dream deck 6 balconies look down on the Lani deck and people can look up and see you. Especially from the Lanai Jacuzzis that extend off the side and are a few feet up on top of the deck! It's pretty awkward. I would even say, the other higher balconies have this problem too if directly above one of the the Jacuzzis.
kaosx Posted July 21, 2014 #1196 Share Posted July 21, 2014 Comedy shows are excellent, and hilarious. Be sure to arrive at least 45 minutes prior because the lounge is small for the amount of people on board so it fills up fast, plus a lot of people from the PG rated shows stick around in theirs seats waiting for the adults show. Jeff "the fun dude" clears the Burgundy Lounge between shows now (as of July 13th sailing). This creates a bit of a log jam of people though as everyone tries to get back in line through the piano bar to see the next comedy show. We never had a problem getting seats 10-15 prior to show time.
kaosx Posted July 21, 2014 #1197 Share Posted July 21, 2014 From the research I've done on this ship this is true. They replaced sushi place with the taste bar. There is sushi on one night as an appetizer in the mdr and on the buffet another day. I'm quite disappointed they got rid of it! Yup, it's gone. It's now a salad bar on Lanai BBQ days, else it stays empty and abandoned.

Are we talking about the Dream? I have never seen a salad bar besides at the buffet, the taste bar is still available as well

I have never seen a salad bar besides at the buffet, the taste bar is still available as well Yes, it's on the Dream, on deck 5. I have never gone down there to check it out, since I'm not a salad person, but I heard it's in the same spot as the Taste Bar, formerly known as the sushi bar. At the oceans plaza, on the other side of the room from the stage. People who like salad seem to like it.
