lovemylab Posted March 1, 2011 #1 Share Posted March 1, 2011 DH and I are interested in visiting the Mount Gay Visitors Centre and doing the Banks Beer Tour. Royal Caribbean offers this as an afternoon excursion for around $50pp. It also includes a visit to a beach bar (it doesn't say what one). Anyone ever done this on their own? Was there a problem getting taxi's at Mount Gay or Banks Brewery? Any idea of the approximate costs involved? For those who did this through the ship, do you recall the beach that you visit? I've looked for tour companies that have these included but wasn't able to find anything. Any help would be appreciated!
NakedBeancounter Posted March 8, 2011 #2 Share Posted March 8, 2011 Last year we did the Cocktail Tour at Mount Gay (Wednesday afternoon only I believe). We did this privately. You have the usual tour of the distillery and then you have a go at making cocktails and trying other peoples' efforts. When we did it there were about 8 couples taking part, so we got to try 8 different cocktails. You can pretty much put whatever you like in the cocktail and you can get pretty tiddly over the course of about an hour. There are prizes for the best cocktail and it was a lot of fun. You can order a taxi at Mount Gay, but it is a nice 30 minute stroll back to the cruise dock if you are not in a hurry. No idea about Banks Beer though...other than it is very tasty!
