future cruise credits

My dad (who has the same name) bought a future cruise credit on their last cruise. They gave it to me to use on a cruise. Will they let me use this or is it tied to his carnival account?

Dh and I bought them in Dec for our August cruise. Both were in my name and it was no problem to use them. I would give it a try, especially if you have the same name.
