Panama canal & bird watching

We have convinced the BIL to go on his first cruise with us to the Panama Canal. He is an avid birder and is interested in birdwatching in all the ports (Costa Maya, Puerto Limon, Cozumel, Jamaica, Grand Cayman). Can anyone give me any pointers or suggestions as to how to find information on these locations? He is perfectly happy to wander off into the forest in the US, but probably not a good idea at these ports. Any and all information welcome.
